When this game is loaded it takes up 300-400MB of RAM, your Windows XP is eating away at another 100MB, anything else in there and you are well over 512MB of ram, so then your into Virtual Memory and you're now in a world of LAG.īF and Vietnam both run poorly on less than 768MB of DDR. The Game Sound Buffer will force the program to load its sounds into a buffer, the buffer then allows sounds to be called much faster as they are held in RAM all the time, this helps reduce a lot of lag.

The Game Level Path will make the game load Ho Chi Minh Trail map as the default, the game has to load a map when it starts and Operation Irving is 30MB, Ho Chi Minh Trail Alt (known in game as 'Cambodian Incursion') is 7MB, so it will load the game faster at start-up. Game.GameLevelPath BFVietnam/Levels/Ho_Chi_Minh_Trail_alt/ Other things that may help would be here:īF Vietnam\Mods\BfVietnam\settings\ n So then in the 'game options video' page set the resolution at you're there turn off 'Shadows' and 'Lightmaps', the light maps make buildings dark inside to increase the realism, this also makes opponents inside them harder to see, turn it off and they are just as visible, it helps frame rate, same with shadows, and shadows are still there in the game. The Render All Refresh Rates allows the ingame menu to give you multiple refresh rate selections for each resolution, low refresh rates dramatically increase game speed but also increase flicker which can hurt your eyes below 70hz. The Render FullScreen line is a switch so its 0 for off and 1 for on. Make sure the file contents look like this:

To do this go to the following file in your install directory here:īF Vietnam\Mods\BfVietnam\settings\ n If you are running a desktop resolution of 1024x768 or higher then I suggest running Vietnam in windowed mode at 800X600

Ok guys I agree that it REALLY sucks that the damn game doesn't even support certain hardware features of the 9800 pro! What a frickin joke!! Nvidia is turning into the thugs of the graphics card industry! They are ruining things for us ati guys, and frankly it PISSES ME OFF!! I spent big money on a top of the line card and the damn game doesn't even utilize the features that I spent money for!!!!All because of FRICKEN NVIDIA!!! They want ati cards to run like crap on all these popular games and are paying off game companies like EA to "optimize" games for their cards!!! IT'S COMPLETE Anyway I did alot of tweakin around and found these settings worked the best overall performance/IQ ! I left the first video option at high and the next two I dropped to medium.thats right medium.then untick shadows. Now with radlinker installed ,I messed around with it and found that you leave AF off but turn AA to max(6x).The results look beautiful!! and perform blazing fast !!! without any lag or stuttering whatsoever!!Also without any wierd pixel probs or nuthin, looks simply awesome!!The difference between high and medium are not even noticeable to me with AA to max using radlinker, and I still see shadows from trees.etc so not sure what shadows I unticked, but it looks amazing!!.give it a try and let me know what you think.
